Dear Little Sis,
I’m a big reader, I have been my entire life. Since I was able to pick up a book, you could find me in a cozy corner reading to myself. Quarantine has me so excited to have so much reading time. If you’re an avid reader like me, or you’re looking to start up the hobby, I wanted to share with you a few must reads.
I dabble in almost every genre, so I’ll try and share a variety of my favorites for all of you! Not all of these are super popular or well known, but they’re novels I have read and personally enjoyed. Some of these appeal more to the younger audience, but I promise they can all be enjoyed by people of any age!

Fantasy
- The Selection – click the book below to buy or read description!
This is one of my all time favorite reads. It can enjoyed by literally all ages. I would describe it as a combination of The Bachelor and The Hunger Games. The romance is amazing and the love triangle even better. This would be a great summer series. Also, Cass just published another fantasy novel, The Betrothed which I will be reading very soon!
- The Red Queen
I’m actually reading this series right now. I’ve owned this book for so long and didn’t decide to start reading it until I had some time on my hands. This one has some really good plot twists and the overall idea for the book is really clever. It’s a great mix of Fantasy, Dystopian, and even a little bit of Sci-Fi. If you know me, blending genres is my favorite, so give this one a try!
Dystopian
- Legend
This is a childhood favorite of mine, but I would reread it again. I absolutely fell in love with the love story in this novel. It was honestly the first book I ever read where I wanted two characters to fall in love so badly! The story of June and Day is incredible. Day comes from nothing and I love the idea of blending a “street rat” with a high class, intelligent girl like June.
- The Darkest Minds
If you saw the movie, but didn’t read the book don’t judge! The book is so much better than the movie. This series is very well written, and I finished it faster than most books. It really takes an interesting turn, and I was always left on the edge of my seat! Also, I read the exclusive Liam story and it’s soooo good
- The Shadow Children – Among The Hidden
Okay, so confession, I read these books YEARS ago! Despite that, I couldn’t write this post without giving these books some credit. For starters, these were the first books I ever truly read. The real kicker is, these books are the reason I wanted to become a writer. The world the Margarett Peterson Haddix portrays is one that inspired me to create my own worlds and follow my own characters on journeys. If a book inspires you to write, it must be a good one! Her dystopian world is also a very real possibility and it truly gives readers something to think about.
Fiction & Romance
- Come Back to Me & Stay With Me
Mila Gray writes the best military romance novels of all time. If you want to get immersed in a world with characters that are somewhat connected, but also completely unique give it a try. Gray loves to start her books off with the end, leaving us guessing throughout the whole novel at what’s to come. I would reread both of these books if given the chance. They’re also the perfect summer beach read.
Thriller/Mystery
- The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer
I read this series a long time ago, and boy was it something. I honestly couldn’t even describe this genre of book if I wanted to. It’s full of the craziest plot twists I’ve ever seen. The thing I liked the most about this series, was I never knew what was coming. As much as I tried to guess, it was useless. I recommend this read if you like a good mystery, mixed with forbidden romance, and also a bit of horror.
